The History of Elliott Marshall Signs
Established in 1949, by Bob Elliott & Percy Marshall.
Just 8 weeks into, the start of Elliott & Marshall, saw G.P (Taffy) Rees join the business, and all 3 men pushed the business forward as the first pioneers of silk screen printing in the West Country for more than a decade.
Bob Elliott left the company after a short while to create Bobell Signs in St. Austell, leaving Marshall & Rees to push the company forward, once again. St. Austell 1950, saw Elliott & Marshall create the first ever "Dayglo" poster, which funnily led to a visit from a local policeman enquiry to see how many more posters were due to be produced, as traffic jams were occuring due to the interest shown in these posters!
The business changed hands in July 1989, with local businessman Gerry Thorpe purshasing the company. With new ideas, the company broke new ground with investments into new Computer software and the introduction of the Gerber Edge Digital Printer. The company was then known as E&M Signs & Screenprint.
Then in October 2006 the company had a new lease of life when it was sold to a local St. Austell family, The Jenkin family of BG Electrical. With continued investment into the company, saw 8 new members of staff in the first year of trading, a rebrand into Elliott Marshall Signs (dropping the E&M and the &) and a company breaking new ground with innovative ideas and bespoke signage solutions.
2008 has seen Elliott Marshall Signs' Campaign promoting awareness of sport in St. Austell kick off with advertising at every major sports club in St. Austell, with key donations to those in need. 2008 has also seen the re-development of the Home of Signage in Cornwall, Morven Studios, our home. This, with the continuing advancement of new technologies and machinery, makes Elliott Marshall one of the most productive companies of 2008 so far.
September 2008 has been a month of Innovation at Morven Studios. Not only has the new brand been launched, but new machinery has also landed, including our brand new Mimaki JV33 160wide Large Format Digital Printer.
2009 has seen us enter our 60th Year Of Innovation, with the purchase of our new premises, in a high profile location.
